*      City Council Votes Unanimously for a Living Wage for All with No Exceptions. The amendments expand the law to cover all employers, not just those with 25 employees or more. This means that starting January 1, 2008 all employees in the City of Santa Fe must receive at least $9.50 per hour. Additionally, the amendments establish an automatic cost of living increase every year, starting January 1, 2009.

Thanks to all of you, as well the Mayor and the City Councilors, who have worked so hard over the past five years to make Santa Fe a leader for economic justice.

We gave the Council petitions signed by more than 3,640 individuals, businesses, and religious, civic, labor, and community organizations who are supporters of the amendments. Special thanks to all of you. Click Here to see who signed.

The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have little. President Franklin Roosevelt, January, 1937.
